LONG THANH AIRPORT - THE TRANSHIPMENT AIRPORT IN THE SOUTH-EAST ASIA

    On 2/8 , in Dong Nai province, The Ministry of Transport and VietNam Aviation Department to hold annoucement of planning for Long Thanh Internation Airport (LTIA) according to Decision No.909/QD-TTg of Prime Minister. Accordingly, LTIA is planned to build on the territory of Long Thanh district (Dong Nai province), far away from Tan Son Nhat Internation Airport about 43km to the East, to become the transhipment Airport in the South-East Asia with capacity of 100 million passenger and 5 million tons of cargo per year. LTIA will take 90% of international flights and 20% of domestic flights on routes to/from Ho Chi Minh City. The project is expected to begin in 2015, with investment costs in the Phase I up to USD 6.744 billion. The two most important items of project that are the runway system, parking with costs is USD 1.277 billion and the passenger terminal is USD 1.4 billion.
